SCOPE / SERVICES PROVIDED

The East Rockingham Waste to Energy Plant commissioning project, undertaken for Acciona, involved comprehensive testing and commissioning services. Our scope of work included:

Testing and commissioning of all four switchrooms, including full Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
Earth testing and soil resistivity studies across the site, incorporating Fall of Potential (FOP) and Earth Potential Rise (EPR) testing.

The project spanned from March 2022 to April 2023, with part-time involvement, and was successfully completed within the scheduled timeframe.

Implementing structured workflows to streamline the testing and commissioning process.
Coordinating closely with stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of FAT and SAT procedures.

CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

The project presented several challenges, including extended work hours to meet tight deadlines, unnecessary delays due to incorrect equipment installations, and accessibility issues for earth testing in harsh environmental conditions. These challenges were effectively addressed by optimising team scheduling and introducing shift-based work patterns, collaborating closely with the client and suppliers to rectify equipment-related issues promptly, and deploying specialized tools to conduct testing in restricted areas while ensuring safety and accuracy.

OUTCOMES

The successful commissioning of the East Rockingham Waste to Energy Plant demonstrated SIGMA’s ability to handle large-scale and complex projects.
